Back to the design Museum

Design museum- ZAHA HADID- beautiful drawings and 3d pictres, some impressive work in quantity and quality, however not too keen on the techno approach to human spaces! And graphic designers- not as amazing as Fletcher who blew our socks off in a previous exhibition!

We were all in a daze after the Blind Light box, it was the most dramatic, stunning & interactive art I have experienced! The 'Blind light' box was made from glass & filled with steam- one became short sighted, & could only hear the people a meter away, when almost touching other people become visible through the white mist.

Allotment was a part of the exhibition which consisted of concrete blocks based around social groups, individuals, their form & personalities were expressed through the size & composition of the concrete. You could join a group of elderly blocks or stand with the a lonely child.

The Berlin Holocaust Memorial ( although having an utterly different meaning) has a similar presence:
Event horizon is 31 sculptures cast from the form of Antony Gormley's body, which observe the city, they surround the building ranging from the closest building to the rooftops 1.5km away. Its like a game of where's Wally!

Green Fairs Summer 2007

The annual KINGSTON Green fair in May was hosted in a 2 acre park on the banks of the Thames. It was a place for new experiences: Licorice fudge, a healthy veggie for less than £2, a musical bike jingling in the rain, fantastic rolled newspaper sculptures, the experience of being blessed by Christians and saying thanks for bright flowers, CHEAP organic beer, Rodney Branigan playing two guitars at the same time, missing John Ottway- fab comedian/musician! Wish u were there?!! FAB

The annual Camden Green Fair was completely different, it was a great booming sunny day. The stands were mostly promotional so there was commercial feel! However there WAS a yoga and meditation tent, free trees and a skip full of flowers by the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust.

The skip was filled with polystyrene and only the top layer was compost, it was sustainable and could continue to grow alike a garden. The project was to influence people to be creative with their 'rubbish' as it hosted a bath & toilet water feature! The garden skip is going to be placed in different places in central London to encourage people to be green and creative with their small yards and front gardens.

The fantastic IMPERIAL LEISURE got everyone up and dancing!
